History
Mohama comes from the word of an African tribe near the Nile Channel and means “Do not worry and live in the present”. Dr. Miguel Aceves Ornelas founded in Guadalajara, Mexico, in 1983, the company that today bears the name of Laboratorios Mohama with the genuine interest of improving people’s quality of life through biotechnology.
He based years of research on the benefits that proteomics (protein-based therapy) offer people naturally, and thus developed a range of five sublingually applicable protein groups that reach the bloodstream to connect with the cell and help it modulate or restore its functions.
Today they have a network of more than 300 distributors throughout the country and expand operations to other countries such as the United States, Canada, Italy, Honduras, and Colombia.
Being a family business, they maintain the mission of creating a work environment of trust and support, which results in offering an alternative of biotechnological products that raise the quality of life of the people who consume them.
Biotechnology
Biotechnology is a branch of science that uses living cells to develop or manipulate products for specific purposes. This discipline emerged at the beginning of the 20th century in the food industry and is linked to genetic engineering. The five branches into which modern biotechnology is divided are human, environmental, industrial, animal, and plant. Biotechnology helps us fight hunger and disease, produce more safely, cleanly, and efficiently.
Biotechnological innovations are part of our daily lives and we find them in pharmacies and even in supermarkets. Biotechnology will play a crucial role in the society of the future when it comes to preventing and containing possible diseases. There are seven branches of biotechnology, we belong to the red branch, which is the one corresponding to health.
What is proteomics?
Proteins are vital parts of living organisms and have many functions. In fact, the human proteome (the complete set of proteins that the human body produces or modifies) contains millions of proteins. Proteins perform a wide variety of essential functions in the development of our body, such as shaping the immune system or transporting substances such as fats and oxygen.
Proteomics is a branch of medicine that studies proteins, their structure, and physiological functions on a large scale. The word proteome is actually a combination of protein and genome and was coined by Mark Wilkins in 1994.
How our product works?
We use biotechnology and proteomics as a basis to develop products of animal origin that provide the human body with the necessary tools to regulate, increase, or decrease its natural functions, thus allowing to solve its deficiencies.
1. The protein is applied sublingually and absorbed into the bloodstream.
2. It reaches the cell membrane in search of its specific receptor moving to the nucleus of the cell.
3. It finds the desired gene and orders the production or modulation of the necessary protein.
